My focus for the last 15 years has been on pediatric occupational therapy, including extensive training in sensory processing, autism, and ADHD. My patients are seen in their homes, daycares, or private schools because I truly believe that treating in the child’s natural environment allows for increased caregiver collaboration and follow through. The focus of therapy is to help the family and/or caregivers identify the child’s unique sensory needs. We then integrate sensory activities within the typical routines and providing adaptions to the environment as necessary. We utilize programs such as advanced sensory processing techniques, Handwriting Without Tears, and the Alert Program®. We have had great success helping children with self regulation and behaviors that others may have had trouble addressing in the past. Take Root Occupational Therapy, LLC is now an official provider of the Gardiner Special Needs Scholarship.
