The talent acquisition and learning platform
At Making Space, we help Disabled people build skills and find meaningful work, while supporting employers to hire and retain valuable talent.
Our Story
Since becoming Disabled at 17, Making Space CEO Keely Cat-Wells has dedicated her life to advancing the rights of disabled people. After moving to the USA, Keely lost a job due to disability discrimination, prompting her to found C Talent, a talent agency that increased disability representation in media and built a roster with a reach of over 50 million. Acquired in 2022, C Talent became the largest acquisition of a company specializing in Disabled talent, marking a major investment in Disabled talent and a milestone for the creative industries.
Following the acquisition, Making Space was founded to address the broader issue of workforce exclusion for Disabled professionals, who experience twice the unemployment rate of non-disabled people. The goal is to create new and improved pathways to employment and career advancement, ensuring Disabled professionals have equitable access to meaningful careers.
Keely partnered with disability rights advocate Sophie Morgan, and together, they are on a mission to drive systemic change and improve outcomes for Disabled talent globally and across all sectors.
Sophie leads Making Space Media, a division of Making Space, producing film, TV, and promotional content that centers the Disabled voice. The division has secured a first-look deal with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
Between them, Keely and Sophie have been internationally recognized for their leadership and impact, earning accolades such as Forbes 30 Under 30, a BAFTA nomination, and fellowships with both Gloria Steinem and the Presidential Leadership Scholars Program. They have served on advisory boards including Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation and Condé Nast Traveler, delivered TEDx talks, spoken at the White House, United Nations, and Cannes Film Festival, and authored critically acclaimed works including bestselling memoirs, TIME op-eds, and columns in The Sunday Times, Business Insider, and Fast Company.
