At Additional Needs, Inc. (ANI), we believe that when individuals are given the right resources and tools, they don’t just succeed—they thrive. Our internship program is designed to empower individuals with additional needs by equipping them with essential digital literacy skills through project-based learning.
This program goes beyond technical training; it fosters independence, confidence, and career readiness. Interns develop crucial skills such as:
- Information Literacy – Learning how to find, evaluate, and use digital information effectively.
- Media Literacy – Understanding various forms of media, critically analyzing their messages, and creating impactful content.
- Communication & Collaboration – Utilizing technology to connect, engage, and work alongside others.
- Cybersecurity Awareness – Recognizing online risks and learning how to navigate the digital world safely.
While mastering these skills, our interns contribute directly to ANI’s mission by gathering and sharing valuable information for the additional needs community. They also play a key role in ensuring ANI’s website is accessible, inclusive, and efficient—not just for our users, yet also for our employees.
Our ultimate goal is to provide career pathways, whether by employing our interns within ANI or helping them transition into roles at technology companies.

Thank You, Comcast NBCUniversal!
Our internship program has been made possible in part thanks to the Comcast NBCUniversal Assistive Technology Grant Fund, a philanthropic initiative dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and additional needs. Since its establishment in 2011, this fund has provided critical resources for training, assessment, and long-term technological support—promoting independence and community participation.
We are especially grateful for Comcast NBCUniversal’s support of Easterseals Florida Naples, which has allowed ANI to launch its first internship program in collaboration with them. Through this partnership, ANI interns are not only gaining valuable knowledge and experience but also actively contributing to ANI’s growth—ensuring we continue to serve individuals with additional needs, their families, and caregivers more effectively.
