The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC) invites you to join thousands of families, friends, advocates, and community members for the 2025 Buddy Walk®. This year’s inspiring theme, On My Way, celebrates the journey toward ensuring that every individual with Down syndrome has access to quality health care, inclusive education, meaningful employment opportunities, and cutting-edge research.

About the Event

The Buddy Walk® is MDSC’s largest annual fundraising and awareness event, bringing together over 4,000 participants from across the state. This community-wide celebration features walking, music, activities, and opportunities to connect—all while raising vital funds to support individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

In addition to the main event in Wakefield, the Buddy Walk® Program extends statewide, empowering schools, community groups, and businesses to host mini-campaigns and fundraising events throughout the year. Together, these efforts spread awareness and build a more inclusive world.

Why It Matters

Funds raised through the Buddy Walk® directly support MDSC’s wide range of impactful programs, including:

• Parents First Call Program – 24/7 peer mentoring and support for new or expecting parents of a child with Down syndrome.

• MDSC Cares – assistance for families navigating extended hospital stays or ongoing complex medical needs.

• Educational Initiatives – including the Educators Forum, Annual Conference, and resources for meaningful inclusion in schools.

• Self-Advocate Programs – such as Advocates in Motion (AIM), the Self-Advocate Advisory Council, and the Your Next Star Employment Program.

• Policy & Advocacy Efforts – advancing critical issues at the state and national level to protect the rights and opportunities of people with Down syndrome.
